Remember after Jesus had described all the bad stuff (earthquakes, famine, war etc) he outright said "DO NOT BE ALARMED THE END IS NOT YET"
Repeat, The End is NOT YET.
the tribulation was not specifically covered in my "bible studies".
but the main "teacher" several times said how she prayed for strength that she would remain true to jehovah when she was tested "in the persecutions".. so, i understand that there has to be some sort of tribulation and persecution of the faithful before armageddon.
why i'm confused is that every stock market dip, new virus or extreme weather event is hailed as the beginning.

hi everyone, first i just want to say if it wasn't this forum, i'd be baptized!
i haven't managed to successfully end my studies with a zealous jw.
she uses everything against me to brainwash me into believing i need the org.
I don't mean to get at you, but it sounds like you are being bullied and you just need to tell them to f!ck off. Life is way too short to be worrying about this nonsense! Take back your life, you seem almost in fear of these people and the time has come for you to move on.
these comments are the reason why my family are leaving the uk, the comments are not mine but give a insight to what a dump the uk has become... i'm a 22 year old male and left the uk at 21 to live in australia and again like many people have said on here.
it is one of the best things i could have done.
the pay in the uk is disgusting.. the average pay here for a very average job is $20 an hour that is 12 an hour, thats just for stacking shelves at supermarkets.
This country (UK) has been steadily floating down the toilet since Blair rose to power in 1997.
i finished listening to the first part of his early christianity to constantine from the teaching company.
it is a survey course.
he explains that he is certain early christians did not go around knocking on doors or curtains.
I've been listening to some of that too recently.
Grab these while you can:
you no longer believed that the watchtower organization was the truth, and that you were no longer going to go to the meetings or service?.
and a followup question... what was the response?.
The best way is to drop seeds of doubt throughout a period of a year. Build up slowly and ALWAYS defend the society when a debate arises. Use reverse psychology. Gradually build up a case against the Borg .
isn't it depressing to believe that this is all there is to life?, an elder told me today that philosophers, apostates, free thinkers and many other enemies of the truth alike do not offer any hope for the future.
but this is the only organisation offering the hope.. what do you think?, the thought of living for just 70 or 80 yrs and not returning back is very depressing or do some other line of reasonings offer any hope?.
i am just curious..
Wow. Thanks everyone, Wasblind started the ball rolling with the love life theme and others have expanded. That is the way to think!
being absorbed in making a living sometimes poses grave dangers.
it may lead to love of money.
in the first century, there was a group of religionists called pharisees who were known for their love of money.
Still today after 10 years leaving I am plagued by 'am I being greedy?' thoughts. The WT installed a 'no need to work' mentality in me that I find hard to shake off.
when i was a jw, the key issue that caused me to doubt the wt was the trinity.
the wtb&ts's blatent misquotations and misrepresentations of religious scholarship to fit their anti-trinitarian presuppositions are horrid and inexcusable.
that issue, however, was not the issue that caused me to become a christian.
That sounds nothing more than a 'Jesus came first' argument wrapped up in theo-speak!
The CrapTower loves quoting from Ecclesiastes! And many Christians hate the book, because on the surface it presents problems.
Ecclesiastes is found in the more poetic section of Scripture, near Proverbs and Psalms. It is a philosophical book presenting two opposing ideas; one of a belief in God and the other a more superficial approach to life. A few scholars believe it to be a record of two people debating, but the general feeling is that these are the words of just one person - in verse one it states '..the words of the teacher..:'
It is a book of debate, perhaps the debate which at some time or another has engulfed every one of us. What is the meaning of life? Is there are point to it all, or is everything meaningless?
The humanist in Ecclesiastes believes everything is meaningless (1:2) nobody remembers the dead (1:11), knowledge and wisdom are useless (1:18), laughter is foolish (2:2),God doesn't allow men to enjoy themselves (6:2) and a stillborn child is better off than the living (6:3), sorrow is better than laughter (7:3), man knows nothing about the future and nobody can tell him about it (8:7), money is the answer for everything (10:19).
Try using some of those verses to a JW who comes at you with the ol' 9:5 treatment. Chapter 12 verse 7 states quite clearly "The spirit returns to God who gave it". This is yet another example of the WT quoting verses out of context. Ecclesiastes is purposely full of contradictions and makes perfect sense once the entire book is read on it's own, within its own context, and not with some cooked up chicken shit square pegs in round holes theory.

I would like to jump straight into this post; I know I may not have multiple posts next to my name and my avatar is a bit of a joke (don't know how to change) but I'd like to throw this out on the stoop and see if the cat licks it up.
As a Christian, it is extremely difficult to defend your faith in a way that is unique to your faith. All arguments put forth to defend the reasons why you believe can be advocated by members of other religions. As another poster has quite rightly asked, what is the difference in accepting Jesus resurrection compared with accepting Mohammed as a messenger of God? Both are taken on faith alone and both brought about an eventual following of millions of people.
XJW4EVR, I by no means seek to insult your beliefs or even question them, but your assertion that just because many started to believe in the years following the preaching of Christ and Paul is built on faulty logic because many believed Mohammed's claims, just as they do with the Governing Body or any other (insert false Messiah here). This in itself is not a reason to believe.
Can I ask you a question XJW...Why should I not believe that Mohammed is God's prophet?
(Just like to clear up I am not a Muslim, never have never will)
